Background Information:
Valerius Maior was once a well respected tremere elder. It is said that he served a special purpose in clan tremere that is not spoken of with outsiders. Valerius was once offered the position of Justicar, but refused due to personal concerns.
And then without warning, Valerius left the Camarilla and joined the Sabbat. He brought great and terrible magics to the Sabbat. It is said that he was the only Tremere Antitribu that survived the Great Purge. Now, the Sabbat also hunts him. Some say it is because of his knowledge of thaumturgy; others say that Valerius made deals with infernal forces to survive the Purge.
He is third on the Red List and it is said that clan tremere will teach their magics to any vampire that brings him in.
