Harrison Franklin

Character Name: Harrison Franklin
Clan: Toreador

Player Name: Michael Dyer
Player Email: michael.dyer -at- comcast.net

Known Information: Harrison revealed this information publicly after the death of Jessica Wendell.

Teen years: When Harrison turned 16 in 1965 he turned on, tuned in, and dropped out, quickly turning his picture perfect life into a smoke filled haze of psychedelics, bad romances, and a domino chain of religious experimentation. His father died of a heart attack in 1966 and his mother died within months of him, seemingly from a broken heart, although the truth was that years of secret alcohol abuse had destroyed her liver. Harrison was too stoned to notice.

Into the Night: Harrison began and ended three marriages between 1968 and 1972, all in attempt to find stability in his life. Just has he began a serious relationship with a mild mannered librarian named Lydia Bartlett, his life changed forever. The order he sought found him in 1972 in the form of Jessica Wendell, the Toreador Harpy of Seattle.

She had discovered that the Brujah, Ross Truesdale had secretly been working with the anarchs and had betrayed the city to them. She chased him down during the anarch raid of the city but she and her childe were no match for him. Her childe Barron Kramer was killed and Jessica was in danger for her life. Harrison stepped in by accident at that moment. Although severely drunk, he found a moment of nobility and sucker punched the anarch with a tire iron, allowing Jessica to escape. Harrison forgot the incident the next morning, thanks to the intervention of the Ventrue Prince.

A month later Jessica Wendell returned for him. Barron’s death delayed the anarchs long enough for Prince Gustov Strauss to rally a defense. She cashed in the debts owed her by the Prince for the loss of her unreleased childe in his service and for revealing Truesdale’s plot, and embraced Harrison in his stead.

The Embrace: For three months prior to the actual embrace, Harrison had his addictions forcibly ended, he was cleaned up and his artistic talents judged. He had a talent for painting that had kept him alive on the street for several years and she refined it and improved his quality ten fold. Being off the drugs cleared his creative mind and a new person emerged. When she was ready, Jessica embraced Harrison.

Since:

For years Harrison worked dutifully at Jessica’s side, learning from her both the ways of the mundane artist, and as a well trained player in Kindred politics. For 20 years Jessica had been the Harpy of Seattle, but she fell in battle in 1984 when the Sabbat attempted to conquer the city. Although he certainly missed his Sire, Harrison did not truly grieve. He threw himself deeper into clan and city politics. Kindred society had given him the order he sought and provided all the comfort he needed.

In 1974, his one time love affair, Lydia Bartlett, was embraced by a roving pack of Anarchs. Believing Harrison was long dead, Lydia welcomed her new life. In 1976, at a bi-centennial celebration, Harrison and Lydia met again. Harrison was part of a posse set up by Sheriff Rooster Brown to patrol the cities in case enemies attempted to take advantage of the large number of people in the streets. The posse attacked the gang of Anarchs that Lydia was running with. In a lull in the fighting he tried to convince her to come with him, but she refused and later that night the Anarchs escaped. Harrison swore to try to get her back, or kill her if he could not.

When the Kuei-Jin attacked and conquered Seattle, Harrison was overcome by the madness that embraced the city. He tore his paintings to shreds and then reassembled them like mixed up jigsaw puzzles. He then went screaming into the night, becoming one of the few who survived.

Exile: From the fall of Seattle until called upon to join the fight to retake it, Harrison traveled the world seeking knowledge and allies. He studied under the Toreador elders and returned more devoted to the Camarilla and dedicated to its safety than ever. Several years were spent in small local theaters developing a new talent.

Return: Harrison was one of the first to answer Archon Lexington’s call for a war party to retake Seattle. When the city was left open, Harrison stepped in, intending to stay in the background and help where needed. A brief consideration of praxis was quickly set aside and within a month Harrison had become the Harpy, filling the role once held by his sire.

Places this character has visited:

* Spokane, Washington 9/20/1949 - 1965 (mortal)
* Seattle, Washington 1965 - 1972 (mortal)
* Seattle, Washington 1972 - 1994 (Kindred)
* 1994 - 2007 Spent a great deal of time in major Camarilla cities across the globe, not really settling in any spot. This makes contact with other characters quite accommodating.

* Other points of contact:

Harrison is a painting afficianado and collector and had many contacts in that area. He also spent the late 60s and early 70s bombed out of his head and may have some contacts from that era as well.
